The 2011 North America Nuclear Policy Dialogue took place on 26 and 27 March at the Elliott School of International Affairs in Washington DC ahead of the Carnegie Conference. Around 70 young professionals and experts attended the sessions over the two days and exchanged ideas on contemporary nuclear issues including civil nuclear energy cooperation, the FMCT, CTBT, NPT, nuclear security, regional issues in South Asia and the Middle East etc.
The conference was opened by Doug Shaw, Associate Dean at the George Washington University and also included keynote addresses by Gary Samore, Special Assistant to the President and White House Coordinator for Arms Control, and Weapons of Mass Destruction, Proliferation and Terrorism and Dr Annika Thunborg, Spokesperson and Chief of Public Information at the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (Preparatory Commission).
